NEW YORK -- Moonlighting as a professional wrestler could cost a former New York high school teacher some money.
School officials have asked Matthew Kaye to reimburse the city for taking sick time to go on a wrestling tour for World Wrestling Entertainment.
Kaye allegedly told school officials he needed to take sick leave to take care of an ill sister, and even provided doctors' notes. Investigators later discovered his wrestling Web site, with tour dates listed for the 11 days he called out sick in December and February.
Kaye resigned in April from his job at Benjamin Cardozo High School in Queens. A special investigator has also recommended that Kaye not be hired for any future teaching positions.
